Drive-In Warehouse Racking in Carol Stream, Illinois

A lot of the calls we get from Carol Stream start the same way: a printing or packaging plant on North Avenue where paper rolls, finished goods, and supplies all compete for the same floor. Underneath that is usually seasonal inventory that swallows floor space three months a year, and it gets worse every month the layout stays the same.

Drive-in rack lets the forklift drive into the lane and store pallets on rails several deep, so large quantities of a few SKUs fit in a fraction of the floor. Before anything is ordered, your Carol Stream team gets a drawing, a position count, and a line-item price, so the decision is based on numbers. Call (312) 815-2445 to start a free layout.

Why Carol Stream Warehouses Work With Us

Carol Stream is a market where mid-size industrial and printing plants with good dock access but floor space shared between production and storage. Whether your building sits near the Gary Avenue industrial area or closer to Armstrong Park, the column grid and usable height decide the drive-in rack design, not a catalog drawing.

Since 1997 we have supplied printing & publishing, packaging, and 3PL operations in and around Carol Stream. That history means aisles traded for lanes to push positions per square foot rarely surprises us mid-project, and the first drive-in rack layout is usually close to the final one.

Being about 20 minutes away in Westmont, with North Avenue, I-355, and Route 59 between us, keeps delivery windows tight and replacement parts on hand. Installation is done by our own crews, and your Carol Stream layout stays on file for the next expansion.

    How Drive-In Rack Works

No aisles. The forklift enters the structure, and the floor holds more pallets per square foot than any other system.

    1

    Continuous rails, not beams

Pallets rest on rails carried by upright frames rather than individual beam levels, so a lane accepts pallet after pallet at the same elevation.

    2

    The truck enters the lane

The driver travels inside the bay to place or retrieve each load. Lane width, rail height, and mast clearance get dimensioned to that specific truck, not a generic one.

    3

    One open end or two

One open end gives LIFO and the highest density available. Two open ends give FIFO with slightly fewer positions, since each lane now needs clearance from both sides.

    4

    Guarding built into the design

Guide rails, column guards, and rail-end protection are part of the spec from the start, because a lane that takes daily contact from forklifts is a lane that will eventually need repair.

What a Drive-In Rack Project Includes

Every drive-in rack project in Carol Stream begins with the numbers: what you store, how heavy it is, what lifts it, and how tall the usable space is. We collect those during a free warehouse consultation by phone, along with a floor plan or a few photos if you have them.

The deliverable is a CAD layout and a priced bill of material: positions, elevations, aisle widths, and capacities. Since the highest density available for a small number of SKUs drives the design, we often model the same Carol Stream footprint two ways so you can weigh density against picking speed with real figures.

Common drive-in rack parts move from our Westmont stock within days. Our crews install to the approved drawing, anchor every frame, and work around your shifts so packaging production does not stop. Your layout stays on file, so adding a bay next year or replacing a damaged upright starts from where the system already is.

High volume of a small number of SKUs
Seasonal or buffer inventory held in bulk
Cold storage and freezer rooms where cube matters most
Product too fragile to floor-stack more than two high
Buildings where floor space, not height, is the binding constraint
