Drive-In Warehouse Racking in Aurora, Illinois

If your Aurora operation is dealing with a growing distribution floor along I-88 where every new SKU lands on the floor because the rack runs are already full, you are not alone. In Aurora, tilt-wall distribution buildings along I-88 share the market with older manufacturing plants near the Fox River, and that usually shows up as seasonal inventory that swallows floor space three months a year.

Drive-in rack lets the forklift drive into the lane and store pallets on rails several deep, so large quantities of a few SKUs fit in a fraction of the floor. Before anything is ordered, your Aurora team gets a drawing, a position count, and a line-item price, so the decision is based on numbers. Call (312) 815-2445 to start a free layout.

Why Aurora Warehouses Work With Us

Warehouses near the Butterfield Road business parks and the Fox River east side each come with their own limits: usable height, column spacing, dock count. In Aurora, tilt-wall distribution buildings along I-88 share the market with older manufacturing plants near the Fox River, so we draw every drive-in rack layout to the actual building.

As a division of Warehouse Equipment & Supplies Co., we have designed storage for manufacturing and food processing operators across Chicagoland since 1997. For drive-in rack, the fit question is usually aisles traded for lanes to push positions per square foot, and we answer it during a free warehouse consultation before you commit.

Being about 30 minutes away in Westmont, with I-88, Route 59, and Route 34 between us, keeps delivery windows tight and replacement parts on hand. Installation is done by our own crews, and your Aurora layout stays on file for the next expansion.

    How Drive-In Rack Works

No aisles. The forklift enters the structure, and the floor holds more pallets per square foot than any other system.

    1

    Continuous rails, not beams

Pallets rest on rails carried by upright frames rather than individual beam levels, so a lane accepts pallet after pallet at the same elevation.

    2

    The truck enters the lane

The driver travels inside the bay to place or retrieve each load. Lane width, rail height, and mast clearance get dimensioned to that specific truck, not a generic one.

    3

    One open end or two

One open end gives LIFO and the highest density available. Two open ends give FIFO with slightly fewer positions, since each lane now needs clearance from both sides.

    4

    Guarding built into the design

Guide rails, column guards, and rail-end protection are part of the spec from the start, because a lane that takes daily contact from forklifts is a lane that will eventually need repair.

What a Drive-In Rack Project Includes

Before drive-in rack is priced for your Aurora building, we gather the constraints: usable height, column grid, aisle widths your lifts need, SKU count, and the load mix your manufacturing volume actually moves. Most of that comes from one phone conversation.

Our design team then builds a CAD layout showing pallet positions, level elevations, and aisle widths, with load ratings for each level noted on the drawing. The quote is itemized by component, so you see cost per position instead of a lump sum. Where it helps, we price a second option on the same floor plan, with the highest density available for a small number of SKUs, so the tradeoff is a number instead of an opinion.

Common drive-in rack parts move from our Westmont stock within days. Our crews install to the approved drawing, anchor every frame, and work around your shifts so food processing production does not stop. Your layout stays on file, so adding a bay next year or replacing a damaged upright starts from where the system already is.

High volume of a small number of SKUs
Seasonal or buffer inventory held in bulk
Cold storage and freezer rooms where cube matters most
Product too fragile to floor-stack more than two high
Buildings where floor space, not height, is the binding constraint
