Question 1

How do you decide between selective, push back, and drive-in racking for a facility?

Accepted Answer

It comes down to SKU count, pallet velocity, and how much selectivity you can give up. Selective racking wins when you need every pallet position accessible; push back and drive-in make sense when you hold deep lanes of the same SKU and want density. During the free warehouse design consultation we run the numbers both ways so you can see the pallet position count and the aisle trade-off side by side before deciding.

Question 2

What is the fastest way to add pallet positions without leasing more space?

Accepted Answer

Usually vertical. Most Chicagoland buildings have clear height that is not being used, so adding beam levels, resizing bays to the actual pallet profile, or narrowing aisles to match your lift equipment can add significant capacity inside the same four walls. We model these options in the layout so you can see the added positions before committing to anything.

Question 3

What do you need from us to produce a layout and quote?

Accepted Answer

Clear height, column spacing, building dimensions, your pallet sizes and weights, the lift trucks you run, and a target pallet position count. That is enough for us to produce a CAD layout, a pallet position count, and a full quote. Both the design consultation and the layout are free with no obligation.

Question 4

How are beam capacities and frame loads determined for our product?

Accepted Answer

We size components off actual loaded pallet weight, pallets per beam level, and total frame load across all levels, then build in the correct capacity margin. If your loads vary by zone, we spec different beams by area rather than averaging everything. Capacity charts are documented with the quote so your team knows the limits per level.

Question 5

Can you expand or reconfigure racking we already own?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and it is a large share of our work. We identify the manufacturer and connection style of your existing warehouse racking, then match or adapt components so old and new rows work as one system. Where a match is not safe, we say so and quote the replacement rows instead of forcing a mismatch.

Question 6

How do you handle rack protection and damaged uprights?

Accepted Answer

High-traffic aisle ends, drive-through openings, and dock-side rows take most of the hits, so we spec column guards, row-end protectors, and guide rails where the traffic actually is. If we find damaged uprights during a project, we flag them and quote repair kits or replacement frames rather than leaving them loaded.

Question 7

What kind of lead time should we plan for?

Accepted Answer

Standard frames, beams, and wire decking generally ship within 48 hours from local stock. Full installations typically run one to four weeks depending on scope, and engineered systems like pallet flow or push back carry longer manufacturing lead times that we put in writing with the quote so you can schedule around them.

Question 8

Do you work with growing operations that need to phase the buildout?

Accepted Answer

Often. We design the full footprint first, then break it into phases so you buy capacity as volume justifies it. Planning the whole layout up front keeps aisle widths, bay sizes, and beam elevations consistent, which means phase three still ties cleanly into phase one.

Question 9

How does local support work after the system is installed?

Accepted Answer

You keep the same project team. Because our crews and stock are local to the Chicago area, add-on beams, replacement components, and reconfigurations do not turn into multi-week waits. Customers regularly call us mid-season for a few extra bays and we work to turn those around quickly.

Question 10

Can installation happen without shutting down our operation?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Most projects are phased by zone or scheduled for evenings and weekends so receiving and shipping keep running. Your project manager sequences the work around your busiest windows and confirms the plan with your floor supervisors before the crew arrives.

Question 11

What does your team do differently for local customers?

Accepted Answer

We stay involved past the sale. That means answering layout questions before there is an order, adjusting the design when your product mix changes mid-project, and being reachable when something needs attention on the floor. Being based in the Chicago area means we can respond quickly instead of routing everything through a distant office.

Question 12

Do you offer used pallet racking?

Accepted Answer

We lead with new pallet rack systems so load capacities and warranty coverage are documented. Used warehouse racking can be the right call for a short-term building or a tight budget, and we will tell you when that is genuinely the better decision for your situation.
