How do I know what beam capacity my Chicago warehouse needs?

Beam capacity follows your heaviest pallet, not an average. Tell us your pallet dimensions and your worst-case load weight, and we size beams and frames to that with margin built in. Ratings for the finished configuration get handed over so your team can post them on the rack.

Can pushback handle our pallet weights?

Cart and rail assemblies are commonly rated 2,500 to 4,000 lb per pallet, with heavier builds available. We spec to your heaviest load with margin and confirm the pallet footprint and overhang work with the cart nesting before quoting.

Can flow lanes be added into our existing rack?

Sometimes. Frame depth and beam spacing have to accommodate the rail assemblies and the pitch the lane needs. We verify your current structure first and convert only the bays that genuinely fit.

Will our current forklifts fit inside the lanes?

Lane width, rail height, and mast clearance get dimensioned to your specific truck - mast height, overall width, and turning clearance - before anything is drawn. If your trucks won't work safely in a lane, we tell you at the layout stage.

How much weight can each arm carry?

Arm capacity is specified per arm and per column, based on your heaviest bundle and how far the load projects. Give us bundle dimensions and weights and we size arms, columns, and bracing to that with margin - then hand over the ratings for the finished run.

Do soft or lightweight cartons flow well?

Full-width wheel beds handle mixed and flimsy cartons far better than spaced roller tracks. If your cases vary in stiffness, that's the specification we'll recommend, and we test travel with your actual cartons at installation.

Choosing Between Rack Types

Four things decide the answer: how many SKUs you carry, how many pallets you hold of each one, how fast product turns, and how much height the building gives you.

Many SKUs with a pallet or two each point to selective pallet rack. Several pallets of the same item favor pushback. Date-driven rotation calls for pallet flow. Large volumes of a few items in a tight footprint suit drive-in. Long material needs cantilever, and case picking needs carton flow.
