Drive-In Warehouse Racking in Romeoville, Illinois

A lot of the calls we get from Romeoville start the same way: a newer big-box building off Weber Road with plenty of height but rack that only uses half of it. Underneath that is usually seasonal inventory that swallows floor space three months a year, and it gets worse every month the layout stays the same.

Drive-in rack lets the forklift drive into the lane and store pallets on rails several deep, so large quantities of a few SKUs fit in a fraction of the floor. We work out the storage math for your Romeoville footprint first, then hand you a CAD layout and itemized quote before a single beam ships. Call (312) 815-2445 to get started.

Why Romeoville Warehouses Work With Us

Warehouses near the Lewis University Airport area and the Airport Road distribution parks each come with their own limits: usable height, column spacing, dock count. In Romeoville, newer big-box distribution centers with tall clear heights next to older Joliet Road industrial buildings, so we draw every drive-in rack layout to the actual building.

Since 1997 we have supplied retail distribution, third-party logistics, and 3PL operations in and around Romeoville. That history means aisles traded for lanes to push positions per square foot rarely surprises us mid-project, and the first drive-in rack layout is usually close to the final one.

Being about 25 minutes away in Westmont, with I-55, Weber Road, and Route 53 between us, keeps delivery windows tight and replacement parts on hand. Installation is done by our own crews, and your Romeoville layout stays on file for the next expansion.

    How Drive-In Rack Works

No aisles. The forklift enters the structure, and the floor holds more pallets per square foot than any other system.

    1

    Continuous rails, not beams

Pallets rest on rails carried by upright frames rather than individual beam levels, so a lane accepts pallet after pallet at the same elevation.

    2

    The truck enters the lane

The driver travels inside the bay to place or retrieve each load. Lane width, rail height, and mast clearance get dimensioned to that specific truck, not a generic one.

    3

    One open end or two

One open end gives LIFO and the highest density available. Two open ends give FIFO with slightly fewer positions, since each lane now needs clearance from both sides.

    4

    Guarding built into the design

Guide rails, column guards, and rail-end protection are part of the spec from the start, because a lane that takes daily contact from forklifts is a lane that will eventually need repair.

What a Drive-In Rack Project Includes

Before drive-in rack is priced for your Romeoville building, we gather the constraints: usable height, column grid, aisle widths your lifts need, SKU count, and the load mix your retail distribution volume actually moves. Most of that comes from one phone conversation.

Our design team then builds a CAD layout showing pallet positions, level elevations, and aisle widths, with load ratings for each level noted on the drawing. The quote is itemized by component, so you see cost per position instead of a lump sum. Where it helps, we price a second option on the same floor plan, with the highest density available for a small number of SKUs, so the tradeoff is a number instead of an opinion.

Once you approve the layout, steel is scheduled and delivered in drops that fit your dock. Our installation crews build the drive-in rack exactly as drawn, confirm it performs loaded, and tag every bay. The job is phased so your Romeoville operation keeps running, and later additions go through the same team.

High volume of a small number of SKUs
Seasonal or buffer inventory held in bulk
Cold storage and freezer rooms where cube matters most
Product too fragile to floor-stack more than two high
Buildings where floor space, not height, is the binding constraint
