Carton Flow Rack in Elgin, IL

A manufacturing floor near Big Timber Road where raw material, work in process, and finished goods all fight for the same square footage is one of the most common problems we see in Elgin right now. Look closer and the real issue tends to be restockers and pickers sharing the same aisle.

Carton flow rack feeds cases down sloped wheel beds to a pick face, restocked from the back, so pickers stop waiting on replenishment and stop walking past empty slots. Before anything is ordered, your Elgin team gets a drawing, a position count, and a line-item price, so the decision is based on numbers. Call (312) 815-2445 to start a free layout.

Why Elgin Warehouses Work With Us

Elgin is a market where older manufacturing buildings near downtown sit alongside newer I-90 distribution space with very different column grids. Whether your building sits near the Randall Road business parks or closer to the Grand Victoria Casino on the Fox River, the column grid and usable height decide the carton flow rack design, not a catalog drawing.

As a division of Warehouse Equipment & Supplies Co., we have designed storage for manufacturing and metal fabrication operators across Chicagoland since 1997. For carton flow rack, the fit question is usually restocking from the back aisle so the pick line keeps moving, and we answer it during a free warehouse consultation before you commit.

Being about 40 minutes away in Westmont, with I-90, Route 20, and Randall Road between us, keeps delivery windows tight and replacement parts on hand. Installation is done by our own crews, and your Elgin layout stays on file for the next expansion.

    How Carton Flow Rack Works

Cases advance to the picker instead of the picker hunting for cases.

    1

    Inclined wheel beds

A full-width wheel bed or roller track sits on a slight incline inside a standard bay, so cases move forward under their own weight without power.

    2

    Pick from a fixed position

The picker always reaches for the same forward spot in the lane. Travel time drops, and so does the time spent searching for the next case.

    3

    Restock from behind

Replenishment loads the high end of the lane from a separate aisle, so restocking never blocks or slows the pick line, and rotation stays first in, first out automatically.

    4

    One lane per SKU

Lane dividers set the width for each case size, giving every SKU its own face - a width that can be resized as your product mix shifts.

What a Carton Flow Rack Project Includes

Before carton flow rack is priced for your Elgin building, we gather the constraints: usable height, column grid, aisle widths your lifts need, SKU count, and the load mix your manufacturing volume actually moves. Most of that comes from one phone conversation.

You get a carton flow rack drawing for your building with every position counted, every level rated, and an itemized price by frame, beam, and accessory. Because this system turns on gravity wheel beds feeding cases to a fixed pick face, we usually include an alternative layout on the same plan so you can compare storage against access.

Standard components ship from stock, often inside 48 hours, and delivery is timed to your Elgin receiving hours. Our own crews anchor, plumb, and level every frame, tag capacities, and phase the work by zone so shipping keeps moving. Afterward you keep one local number for parts, added levels, reconfigurations, or a future relocation.
