    Cantilever Rack in Chicago, IL

Freight stacked in the aisles of an older brick building because the floor was never laid out for modern pallet loads is one of the most common problems we see in Chicago right now. Look closer and the real issue tends to be bundle lengths that do not fit a standard pallet rack bay.

Cantilever rack holds lumber, pipe, tubing, and sheet goods on arms with no front column in the way, so long loads come off the floor and onto rated levels. We work out the storage math for your Chicago footprint first, then hand you a CAD layout and itemized quote before a single beam ships. Call (312) 815-2445 to get started.

Why Chicago Warehouses Work With Us

Warehouses near Pilsen and the Lower West Side and the Clearing district near Midway each come with their own limits: usable height, column spacing, dock count. In Chicago, older multi-story brick buildings with tight column grids and freight elevators sit a few miles from newer single-story boxes with 32-foot clear heights, so we draw every cantilever rack layout to the actual building.

Our team has quoted and installed racking for food & beverage distribution and third-party logistics work in Chicago for decades. With cantilever rack, the deciding factor is normally single-sided runs along the wall, double-sided in open floor, and we put the numbers for that in front of you up front.

Our Westmont warehouse is about 35 minutes from Chicago by way of I-55, I-90/94, and I-290, so deliveries are short, parts are close, and our own crews do the installation. One contact handles the layout, quote, schedule, and service afterward.

    How Cantilever Rack Works

Arms with nothing in front of them, built for lumber, pipe, and anything a pallet can't hold.

    1

    Columns and anchored bases

Upright columns sit on anchored bases. Base depth is set by load and arm length so the run stays stable even under an off-center pick.

    2

    Arms at adjustable heights

Arms bolt or pin into the column at set increments and move as your product mix changes. Straight arms suit boxed goods; inclined arms with a lip hold round or loose stock in place.

    3

    Column spacing against sag

Spacing between columns is set so bundles don't sag between arms. A common starting rule places arms about half the load length apart, with the ends overhanging evenly.

    4

    Single-sided or double-sided

Single-sided runs go against a wall. Double-sided runs stand in open floor and load from both faces, doubling capacity per base without doubling the footprint.

What a Cantilever Rack Project Includes

Every cantilever rack project in Chicago begins with the numbers: what you store, how heavy it is, what lifts it, and how tall the usable space is. We collect those during a free warehouse consultation by phone, along with a floor plan or a few photos if you have them.

The deliverable is a CAD layout and a priced bill of material: positions, elevations, aisle widths, and capacities. Since arm length and capacity set by the bundles you handle drives the design, we often model the same Chicago footprint two ways so you can weigh density against picking speed with real figures.

Common cantilever rack parts move from our Westmont stock within days. Our crews install to the approved drawing, anchor every frame, and work around your shifts so third-party logistics production does not stop. Your layout stays on file, so adding a bay next year or replacing a damaged upright starts from where the system already is.
